Three hidden benefits of solar panels

By on June 30, 2017

Unless you’ve had your head under a rock the past few years, you know that solar has become a big deal and that more and more people are taking the plunge and converting over.

There’s more to meets the eye than the usual sales brochure stuff, however. There are plenty of hidden benefits many people don’t consider – but we feel they should know about! That brings us to this month’s blog, which will discuss the hidden benefits of solar energy.

Selling what you don’t use

The great thing about solar energy today as opposed to years ago is that we’re able to store it. Thing is, there’s no such thing as ‘putting it away for a rainy day’ and now houses are storing more electricity than they’ll ever know what to do with it.

Because of this, certain companies are shaving off the excess and buying it back to sell to others. It’s a great way to cut costs and make a few extra bucks, but there are limits on how much can be sold. But hey – if you’re not going to use it – why not sell it to someone else?

Low maintenance

People don’t realize how little they’ll have to worry about their solar panels. All you need to do is clean them once, maybe twice a year if you’re a in an area with more dust, sand, etc. That’s literally all you have to do. Just that.

The lease

The only real downside to purchasing solar panels is that it’s expensive to install them initially if you’re not planning on selling power back. In lieu of that, most companies have begun to lease out their products, helping to overcome the biggest obstacle to obtaining solar energy. The best part of a solar panel lease is that you actually cut down on your month to month expenses thanks to the solar companies themselves who carry insurance on the panels – which is simply something you don’t have to – and shouldn’t have to worry about!

Why the major benefits of solar continue to most families are unaware of what’s out there until they install them on their roof and are already enjoying them. If you’re interested in solar power, give us a call today!
